This week's Menu, shopping list & Price Break down
Man this stuff takes some time. I never realized how much effort
you supermom's put into feeding your children/family on a budget.
With raising gas & food prices I have to do something and food is a great
way to start. So this is my effort to down scale our budget so that maybe

Shopping List
1 bag Corn (frozen)
1 Bag Peas (frozen)
1 Dz eggs (med)
1 Butter (tub)
2 cans Peaches
1 cinnamon
15 cornbread mixes (on sale 5/$1) you could always buy a bag of cornmeal like I'm doing on my main shopping list & make from scratch. It's fast & easy. I got these because of sale & being lazy)
1-100 tea bags
2-plastic pitchers (dollar store or walmart should still have some for $1)
1-8oz tomato sauce
1 pk Corn Tortillas
1-chili powder
2-Cheese (always save-not real but oh well)
1-non stick spray
2-Frozen OJ
3 bags Green Giant baby cut carrots (on sale $.99)
8-Green peppers ( on sale 2/$1)
1-3# onions
1-15oz refried Beans
1-picnic ham shoulder (sent hubby for ham bone for beans and he came home with this instead not bad considering price $.78 per#~)
1-canned Chicken ( he was suppost to get sweet sue but came home with canned Valley fresh canned chicken @ $3.39 per 10oz Which means per oz it is .40 but on the up side it is white meat!)
1-Baking powder
1 Box butter (4 sticks)
1-bread crumbs
1-Green Bean (frozen)
1-Box of instant potatoes
Now this is from shopping at a combo of Aldi's and Homeland. Some items I already had mostly spices, rice, beans & noodles. If your completely bare, yours of course will cost more. We use instant nonfat dry milk to save money on milk. My family drinks it just like regular milk and since we use alot of milk I need that savings. If you need the recipe which is super dupper easy to mix up it will be posted soon. Otherwise most of the boxes have it already listed. Aldi's sells theirs for $7 per box. I buy two boxes or three depending on if I'm baking that week or not.
Also my husband eats like a horse so I have to figure atleast three people just for him. So when I do it for 4 it's really 7 because there is no leftovers at all. Whatever is left over gets put into lunch the next day. Me and my husband do not eat lunch. He's at work and I'm at home but not hungry. My kids eat breakfast & lunch and both are cheap. Cereal and juice mostly for breakfast and lunch is peanut butter and jelly or if there is something leftover from the night before they get that.
Now most of these ideals came from a wonderful site Hillbilly Housewife. I found her site along time ago when I was looking for ways to use beefstew and chili since it was on sale and I went over board and purchased so many cans of each that by the time we got done none of use wanted to see or hear either word for the rest of our lives. You would be surprised with the things you can do with both. I will have to post some of the recipes from that jaunt in the past. Scary let me tell you.
I will post the next two weeks menus in the next couple of days. My fingers are numb from typing and I want to watch the telly for awhile.
